A video of car testing was published on the YouTube channel by the Institute for Road Safety Insurance (IIHS).
Model 3 is known to have received "the highest marks in all eight tests, covering impact resistance, passenger protection, collision avoidance and headlight system testing." In addition, the electric car noted increased protection against tipping over - this provides a battery under the floor, which reduces the center of gravity.
“Vehicles with alternative transmissions have taken over,” said David Zubi, Institute’s chief researcher, in a statement on the IIHS website. "When choosing a car, it makes no sense to sacrifice safety to reduce carbon emissions."
According to the IIHS statement: “The Model 3 body has passed one of the Institute’s most difficult crash tests - a frontal collision from the driver’s side.”
